About us
Who we are
North Devon Hospice have been offering care and support to local people who are affected by a life-limiting illness since 1984. We started with a single Community Nurse, covering the entire North Devon area. We now care for around 3,000 people every year, offering specialist care to patients at home and at the hospice, while supporting the whole family throughout these toughest of times.
Volunteers are at the heart of what we do at the hospice, and a wide varity of people donate their time to help us provide care and support to the people of North Devon. It’s their skills, passion and constant dedication that makes our hospice so special. Our volunteers have various motivations for donating their time; to meet new people, develop new skills or utilise existing skills, or simply to give something back after a personal experience. Whatever the reason, we are incredibly grateful and couldn’t do all that we do without them.
Our culture and values
Our Mission is simple – to provide outstanding care and support to the community of North Devon who are impacted by a life limiting illness. We see first hand the importance of focusing on the life in our days, not the days in our life.
Equality, diversity and inclusion policy
We are a disability confident and Mindful Employer, treating every individual as an individual. We are a Forces-Friendly organisation and welcome applications from Veterans and Service spouses and partners.
We actively support Assylum Seekers to volunteer with us where possible and have volunteers from 14 to 94.
We recognise that to be happy in life you need to feel supported, content, motivated, passionate and have fun in the work you do, so we have flexible working arrangements to support the other things going on in your life.
