Who we are
Newbury YMCA is a local Christian charity. We are the safe place in Newbury where young people can belong and thrive.
Our vision is for somewhere for young people in Newbury that is always open and welcoming to all. This might be called a Youth Hub.
The Youth Hub would be somewhere for youth people
- to go
- to learn
- to express themselves
- to develop
- to escape
- to volunteer
- to explore faith
- to have fun
- TO BELONG
We believe our business plan takes us closer to this vision and provides some of these things to young people using community venues.
The activities we currently offer young people are:
- FUSION Youth Group at Riverside Community Centre, Clayhill (Friday)
- SPACE Youth Group at Waterside Youth & Community Centre (Thursday) - for Young Carers and other young people
- Self-Esteem workshops and support at Newbury College
- Annual Community YMCA/ CTNA Football Tournament.
- Two Newbury YMCA FC teams (one 18+, one that include players 15+) playing in the Thames Valley Churches League.
