About us
Who we are
Mental Health Resource is a local, award-winning charity, founded in 1993 to provide practical and emotional support in a safe and caring environment, for people with mental health issues. We offer our local community free mental health support for as long as is needed, and provide wellbeing tools and the opportunity to connect with others.
Our aim is to improve mental wellbeing by enabling people to feel supported and valued, providing opportunities for social connections and by raising awareness of mental health. we deliver this through our four key projects which are all free for clients to access. These are:
- The Hub - our wellbeing centre, based in Tunbridge Wells, which offers a range of activities to support recovery and a safe space to talk. We offer one to one support as well as special interest groups in the centre (such as needlecraft and creative writing) and two days a week we provide outdoor activities including at our allotment and a walking group.
- Reachout - these are confidential self-help peer support sessions which are held fortnightly in Southborough, Edenbridge and Paddock Wood and enable participants to share personal experiences in a caring, non-judgemental environment. As well as peer connections, the groups also facilitate wellbeing sessions and support from trained professionals.
- Reachout Youth groups – confidential, café-style support sessions for young people aged 13-19 in Tunbridge Wells and Tonbridge to help them to develop coping strategies and share stories. These groups are fun and creative with activities including pumpkin-carving and making soothing boxes.
- Assert - a specialist advocacy service provided to those who are detained under the Mental Health Act 1983 and for people with mental health issues in the community. We run this service across West Kent and Maidstone, Dartford, Gravesham and Swanley.
Our small team of staff are all dedicated and passionate about providing high quality mental health services in Kent.
