About us
Who we are
We are a charity whose main aim is to advance the education of the general public and students in London, Birmingham & Leicester in the subject of Special Educational Differences (SPEDs) such as Dyslexia, Dyspraxia, ADHD and Autism.
We meet our objectives by through two means:
(a) delivering a modular programme through a series of thematic remote sessions to high school and college students which aim to address particular issues in the SPEDs community such as mental health, access to employment and education, as well as challenging perceptions and cultural stigma.
(b) Run Neurodiversity Awareness Street Campaigns which raise awareness to public on SPEDs and our charity.
At the end of the programme, our year 11 and 12 students are encouraged to deliver a presentation in front of their peers which not only illustrates what they have learned from our programme, but what have they learnt from further reading and further engagements with members of the SPED community.
Our culture and values
Our organisations's core belief is that not only can the public can only continue to develop their knowledge in neurodiversity and empower them to spread neurodiversity through the word of mouth but we as a member of the charity can always develop our own knowledge too and can model this belief. Hence to meet this aim, the charity has several opportunities for CPD sessions to develop your own knowledge in neurodiversity to share to our target audience.
In terms of working practices, we are a very supportive team who believes each member has a great value of input and creativity to place on the output of the charity.
We also prioritise work flexibility to ensure you have time to do your regular daily commitments. The ethos of "You do not work around the charity's time, the charity works around your time."
Equality, diversity and inclusion policy
As a charity that aims to be encourage neuroinclusivity, we modulate this within the organisation by ensuring reasonable adjustments in terms of time to do projects or tasks are in place.
