About us
Who we are
About Lordship Hub Co-op
Lordship Hub is a community centre and café. It was established as a community
co-operative in 2013 to encourage local people to take ownership and make it a great community resource. We want all staff, volunteers and users to become members so that they have a say in what we do and how we do it.
Our aim is to provide services that are needed in the local community. This includes serving a menu that is all about, fresh, wholesome, tasty and affordable food. Our activities and pricing have to be appealing to our local community and allow us to run a financially sustainable organisation.
How we work together
For both practical and ethical reasons we have a flat management structure. This means that all staff have equal responsibility for the success of the organisation. Each member of staff will take on responsibility for specific areas in which they have expertise. When necessary all staff will pitch in to help in all areas of the organisation.
Lordship Hub relies on a large number of volunteers, mostly in the Café. The staff work closely with the volunteers. The volunteers come from a variety of backgrounds and have varying levels of ability. Some of the volunteers may have personal or medical issues and some of those will be supported by a carer where necessary.
All staff meet to together weekly to discuss and work through every day issues, make plans and take operational decisions.
The Hub Board meet monthly to oversee the strategic direction of the Hub and to ensure that staff have the financial and material resources and support to fulfil their roles successfully.
A shared online system for communication is used to support these meetings and keep track of tasks, policies and decisions.
