About us
Who we are
Loughborough Community Centre is a local charity established in 1981, by local Loughborough Estate tenants as a positive outcome of the Brixton Riots.
LCC provides a range of activities to alleviate the effects of poverty for families within the most deprived ward in Lambeth (Coldharbour) at the Max Roach Centre. To improve the lives of local; children, people of disadvantage and to empower people to develop resilience and thrive.

OUR VISION
To become a financially sustainable grassroots community organisation, providing high quality services and the ability to listen and respond swiftly to community needs.
OUR MISSION
Provide a safe place where children, young people and families can come together, to play, thrive and succeed.
OUR CORE OFFERINGS
Rosebuds Preschool, Play and Holiday Provision and Family Wellbeing and Support.
ABOUT OUR CENTRE
Loughborough Community Centre adopted the management and maintenance of the Max Roach Adventure Playground (2007) and One O’clock Club (2013) from Lambeth Council without the security of funding. This saved the vital community space from closure and ensured the continuation of delivery of services for children and their families. Working closely with the local community we have designed and delivered a portfolio of vital projects on a shoe string budget.
WHO WAS MAX ROACH?
Max Roach Park is named after the African American Jazz drummer Max Roach, who visited the park in 1986. A pioneer of bebop, he worked in many other styles of music, and is generally considered one of the most important drummers in history.
