About us
Who we are
Our vision is that the power of arts and culture transforms and enriches the lives and health of Londoners.
We seek to make this happen through the enjoyment, promotion and nurturing of arts and cultural activities to improve the health and wellbeing of all Londoners.
We will strive to ensure that communities value the power of arts and culture and have fair access to activities to address health inequalities.
We will support and enable artists and creative practitioners in London to deliver high-quality arts and health activities.
We are the leading support sector organisation, advocate and expert for arts and health in London. Our vision is that the power of arts and culture transforms and enriches Londoners' lives and health.
We hold industry events, share information and opportunities through our newsletter to 5.5k subscribers, and publicise arts and health activity by sharing on our social media channels that reach around 20k users. We deliver arts and health training to primary care staff which we have developed to provide online and have adapted to offer creative wellbeing activity to support NHS staff during the coronavirus pandemic.
We are agile and reactive. Over the past year, we received National Lottery (Catalyst) funding to develop a digital tool to support a sector in crisis. We undertook in-depth research of our beneficiaries and developed a prototype, the Digital Sandpit. We have been successful in the next funding stage to bring this to the sector and will incorporate this work into this project.
We created and launched a new digital tool, PartnerUp, to support the Thriving Communities Funding bid, which encourages cross-sector partnerships and supports cultural organisations of any size to be on an equal footing. We have recently released a new website commissioned by the GLA containing the Arts and Culture Social Prescribing Mythbuster Guide. The resources include information, resources, case studies, podcasts and an animation for anyone interested in cultural social prescribing in London. In partnership with the Culture, Health and Wellbeing Alliance we deliver a yearly Creativity and Wellbeing Festival that went from a small London festival to national in 2019 and saw over 50,000 attendees taking part in around 600 events.
