About us
Who we are
Lollard Street was the first adventure playground in England, built in 1946 on the site of a bombed-out school. Starved of funding for decades, it had fallen into disrepair before being closed by Lambeth council due to austerity cuts in 2012. Since the Kennington Association took over in 2013, this historic site has been transformed so that once again it is at the heart of our community. Since it opened the children of over one thousand local families have benefited from the opportunity to experience free play and learn how to calculate risk on carefully supervised and well-designed play structures as well as quieter areas where they can paint, garden or build with a great variety of materials.
