About us
Who we are
Guernsey lies in the English Channel and is the largest of four inhabited islands forming the Bailiwick of Guernsey (the others are Alderney, Herm and Sark). It has a population of around 63,500 people occupying its 24 square miles (62 km2).
Providing professional care to patients and their loved ones Les Bourgs Hospice has formed a special and close bond with the people of Guernsey who have taken the hospice to their hearts and it is now part of the fabric of island life.
The hospice here at Andrew Mitchell House was founded by Greville Mitchell OBE and Mrs Lisa Mitchell in 1991 when they recognised the need for a hospice on the island and 32 years later the hospice still provides care in a home from home setting and is now at that pivotal stage of its life having consolidated its place within the community of the Bailiwick of Guernsey.
Our vision for the future is to increase our engagement with other agencies to extend the support we offer to more people and their families living with life limiting conditions within the Bailiwick. Whilst at the same time ensuring the ongoing financial viability of the organisation and dealing with the increasing challenges of recruiting and retaining the high calibre people we require to deliver our services.
