About us
Who we are
The Anderton Centre is run by a charity, The Lancashire Outdoors Activities Initiative (registered Charity Number 1060324) which has been proving outdoor activities, develooping facilities and building capacity for outdoor leaders and instructors since 1989.
Since 2009 we have occupied the Anderton Centre, on the shores of the Lower Rivington Reservoir in Lancashire, as a base for our work. The Centre, with its 70 bed accomodation wing, conferencing and training facilities, plus a wonderful lakeside frontage with boathouse and a wide range of land based outdoor activities provides an ideal location.
The Centre now has well over 10,000 visits per year, with guests taking part in an ever growing range of outdoor activities, team and personal development and other training programmes.
Our visitors have included a range of secondary and priomary schools, youth organisations, training providers, businesses and many individual and family groups. They join us for short residential experiences, activity days, skill development programmes, management and teambulding events and family fun days. Feedback is excellent and many have said how much they have gained from the 'Anderton Experience'.
Our charity aims to ensure that all secions of society are able to take advantage of the learning opportunities in the great outdoors and offers programmes that are priced to ensure access to all.
Over the last two years we have responded to feedback from our clients and reinvested surpluses made to improve the quality and range of our provision and we continue to work toward this.
