About us
Who we are
Created in the 1940s, No.s 10000 and 10001 were highly successful prototypes, setting the template for modern diesel locomotives. After travelling nearly 2 million miles, they were both scrapped in the late 1960s, before the railway preservation movement had turned its attention to diesel traction.
The Ivatt Diesel Recreation Society plans to rebuild one of the locos around existing contemporary parts, and new build components.
