About us
Who we are
Why we exist.
1 in 3 people have fewer than two conversations per week (Hullo, 2020)
Disconnected communities could be costing the UK economy £32 billion every year (British Red Cross, 2020)
For some people, weeks can go by without having a conversation. Due to lockdown, conversations stopped for so many, and the impact of the pandemic will be felt for years to come.
Hullo is here to fill a gap in need in the UK, enabling people to chat and interact with others – in a safe, casual and non-judgmental way. Despite living in a world that is more connected than ever, so many people feel like that they have no-one to talk to. Hullo is not here for counselling, mental health advice or to advance one group over another; we simply exist to unlock the power of conversation and provide a conversation for everyone.
After all, 90% of people feel happier after having a conversation with somebody (Hullo, 2020)
Our vision = A world where everyone has someone to chat to
Our mission = To enable people to chat and interact with others, connecting communities through conversation
What we do.
Hullo’s main service is the Hullo LINE – a freephone line coordinated by a team of volunteers from 9am until 9pm. The phone line is available to anyone who fancies a chat. Some people call us to have a chat with someone new, to natter about their favourite music, movies, food or other interests or if they need some guidance.
We are early intervention. We are community driven. We are people centred. Hullo works in partnership with over 100 charities, not-for-profits and community groups to signpost people onto if they require more specific support or advice.
