About Home-Start Medway
Home-Start Medway opened in 1987, 14 years after the original Home-Start began in Leicester. Across the UK, there are over 250 Home-Start schemes. Home-Start Medway is an independent charity which adopts the Constitution, Standards and Methods of Practice of Home-Start UK.
Where do we cover?
Home-Start Medway is based in Strood and covers the whole Medway area.
Governance
We are managed by a Board of Trustees who are from the local community and come from a variety of different backgrounds. The Board of Trustees are responsible for governance and setting the direction of the service.
There are ten members of staff, together with a team of trained volunteers who carry out the home-visiting parent support service, and run groups for children and families with under 5’s in the local area. We have strong Partnerships with many local organisations and companies which allow us to utilise local expertise to enhance support for families.
Quality Assurance
Home-Start Medway is affiliated to the national organisation, Home-Start UK, but we are autonomous and responsible for our own management own funding. Home-Start UK provides advice and support together with a stringent Quality Assurance review process to ensure the scheme operates effectively. We are proud to report that we achieved Home-Start UK Quality Assurance Standards!
