About us
Who we are
Home-Start Central Lancashire is a local charity of trained volunteers and dedicated experienced staff. We support families with young children to overcome adversities and flourish during the years of early childhood.
We offer a unique service, recruiting and training volunteers who are usually parents themselves, to visit families at home who have at least one child under the age of eleven to offer informal, friendly, and confidential support.
To help families in the best way we can, we support parents using a trauma informed approach, and strengths-based practice, this helps them to understand themselves and their parenting better, so they grow in confidence, strengthen their relationships with their children, improve their parenting, and widen their links with the local community.
We work alongside parents in their own homes, to help them cope with the stresses and strains of life and make sure they have the skills, confidence, and strength they need to nurture their children.
Home-Start Central Lancashire have been providing support for families since 1996. Due to growth and demand, we registered as a charity and company limited by guarantee in 2004. We are based in Chorley, and originally supported families in the Chorley and South Ribble areas, but due to increased demand during and since lockdown, we have widened our home-visiting support to include West Lancashire and Greater Preston.
Our focus is on supporting families that are in need and providing the help they need before reaching crisis point, so that wherever possible they can stay together safely.
