Who we are

Home Start Camden and Islington provides practical, emotional and social support to parents of young children struggling to cope with the pressures of modern day to day life.

Our work aims to meet the needs of a diverse and changing community by recruiting and training volunteers from a broad range of backgrounds, each with a unique set of skills which are carefully matched with a family in need of support. Volunteers are often parents or grandparents, they may have received support from Home Start themselves and they share our ethos of linking families and communities through openness and encouragement; providing a safe place for families and the opportunity to discuss issues frankly and honestly.

Everything we do is underpinned by professionalism and integrity. We work with families without pressure or judgement and treat every adult and child with respect and dignity. Support is confidential, flexible and totally responsive to individual’s needs and our team works hard to provide friendly and dependable support to families when they need it most.

Our hope is that together, we will enable parents to feel less isolated, foster confidence in their parenting skills and empower them to connect with the wider Camden and Islington community. We are looking for people to join our team and share our vision of a stronger HSC&I, one which helps more families and ensures the charity goes from strength to strength in the future.
