About us
Who we are
Holy Trinity's mission is to reflect the love of Christ in the heart of Warrington. Coffee Bar is the key outworking of our mission as we seek to support people crossing our threshold, many of whom find themselves on the edges of society. We believe God’s vision for Coffee Bar is to be a place of wellbeing, belonging and community which strives for justice for the people we serve.
So what is Coffee Bar? Much more than a café, Coffee Bar provides a welcoming, supportive and affirming space for all. Set right at the heart of Warrington’s town centre, Coffee Bar has provided a cherished place of community, friendship and belonging for almost 40 years. While we do the practical stuff of making refreshments, our primary role is to provide pastoral and practical care to anyone crossing our threshold. Most of the people we support live with poverty, disadvantage, discrimination, social isolation and/or chronic health conditions.
We think strategically and work collaboratively, and The National Lottery Community Fund has recognised the importance and impact of our work through a five year grant, including funding for the new role of Capacity Building, Partnerships & Funding Coordinator.
Our culture and values
Holy Trinity's mission is to reflect the love of Christ in the heart of Warrington. Shortly before Covid, we adopted a vision which included the following fundamental aspects:
- * Being an asset for the town of Warrington
- * Being open and accessible to all
- * Working in partnership
Hot on the tails of Covid came the cost-of-living crisis and this reinforced our belief that Coffee Bar is central to God’s vision for Holy Trinity and our conviction that we are being called to:
- * Develop Coffee Bar into a missional hub which partners and collaborates with others in the third sector to work for justice, wellbeing and community for the people of Warrington
- * Build sustainable capacity so we can consistently support more people in more ways, including extending our opening hours over the longer term
- * Partner and collaborate with statutory agencies and fellow VCFSEs
Equality, diversity and inclusion policy
Holy Trinity and Coffee Bar are known as diverse and welcoming spaces. We are motivated by working for justice, equity, inclusion and belonging.
While there will always be work to do, we are very fortunate in having a diverse, talented and dedicated team of PCC and Coffee Bar Committee members. This helps us to respond to a rich range of voices and reduces the risk of group think and operating in a vacuum. We attract a diverse and dedicated volunteer team, most of whom are not members of our congregation. And because our doors are wide and open, people from all walks of life come through them.
None of this is an accident; we have done a lot of practical work and a good deal of praying, discerning and thinking to be where we are today. “Belonging” is vital to what we do and is built into Coffee Bar’s tag line “Welcoming, supportive, accessible … a space for all”.
