About us
Who we are
We are a local HIV and sexual health charity commissioned by Hertfordshire County Council to provide support, clinical and educational services in and around Hertfordshire. For the last 25 years the charity has supported people in Hertfordshire who are living with HIV, their families and friends. Herts Aid provides a unique service in Hertfordshire; promoting education and awareness of HIV and Sexual Health, campaigning to reduce stigma and making a difference to individuals many of whom are vulnerable or at risk.
Our vision is for an inclusive society, where HIV and sexual health is understood and accepted without prejudice or stigma. Herts Aid aims to achieve this by offering a range of support services, educational projects and clinical services including point of care HIV testing, chlamydia screening and condom distribution.
Our beneficiaries are people who are living with HIV, their family and friends. This means people newly diagnosed (early stage) who may need emotional and practical support coming to terms with their diagnosis, and those with a late stage diagnosis where ill health may be already present and many more life challenges may exist.
We have a small, friendly staff team who really appreciate the generous support our volunteers give us. Induction training and ongoing support is provided, which can help those looking to update a C.V. or get experience in a specific sector of Public Health.
