About us
Who we are
Helen Arkell Dyslexia Charity removes barriers to learning and life for children, young people and adults with dyslexia and other specific learning difficulties by providing direct expert, personal and life-changing support to over 1,000 people a year.
We also support parents of dyslexic children, teachers, and employers of dyslexic staff.
Where possible we deliver services free to disadvantaged people with dyslexia from low-income backgrounds.
Services include consultations, assessments, 1:1 tuition, skills development, workshops and courses. We also train teachers and teaching assistants in the support of learners with dyslexia - many will go on to deliver support in the classroom on a daily basis.
We operate from our Surrey Centre plus Southwark, Oxford and Salisbury hubs. Many services are now also available online or by video call.
We are committed to further increasing our reach and impact over the next 5 years, with the aim of more than doubling the number of beneficiaries we support, and particularly to assist significantly more people who are from lower-income backgrounds.
