About us
Who we are
Heart of Bucks is the county’s community charity, connecting people who care with local causes that matter.
We are part of a network of 47 Community Foundations across the UK, all striving to help people and organisations invest in their local communities.
As one of the largest non-statutory grant givers in the county, we have supported more than 4,000 community organisations since our first grant payment in 2000. To date, we have distributed over £11m in grants and loans across Buckinghamshire.
We work with a range of fantastic private philanthropic donors and trusts, as a well as a range of public and statutory services (local authorities, NHS etc). Working in partnership with national organisations such as the National Lottery and the National Emergencies Trust we deliver national funding programmes too, bringing government and other national money into Buckinghamshire. Since the Covid pandemic struck, we have been busier than ever and in the past year have distributed more than £2m to local organisations..
Throughout the year, local charities and not-for-profit organisations are invited to apply for funding for a hugely diverse array of projects. From the initial stages of expressing an interest in applying, through to a grant being awarded, organisations are assisted by our internal funding team. We are proud to offer custom support to ensure applications are of the highest standard before they are taken to panel. Our dedicated grants panel – who meet throughout the year to carefully consider applications – consists entirely of Buckinghamshire-based volunteers, whose experience covers everything from education to business and are a fundamental part of the application process.
