About us
Who we are
As an independent health think tank we:
- Research the root causes of preventable health issues, to identify where action is likely to prove most effective.
- Research what works in tackling the issues, drawing on lessons learned from around the world.
- Share our findings as widely as possible, to help encourage the changes needed here in the UK.
- Work in partnership with other organisations concerned to reduce health inequalities.
We are recognised as a charitable company by HMRC.
Our culture and values
Our core belief is that prevention is better than cure - and that this is better for those affected, their families, their employers and the NHS than waiting for people to fall ill and then treating them.
Some illnesses cannot be prevented - but where illness can be prevented or the risk reduced this should be a priority.
We are a virtual, voluntary organisation, which means people can contribute to our work at the times and places that are convenient for them.
Equality, diversity and inclusion policy
Policies are helpful but the key test is how an organisation works in practice.
If you join us you'll find we're a diverse team of people, from often different backgrounds, united by a shared belief that prevention is better than cure.
