Havering Shopmobility

Who we are

Havering Shopmobility is a local charity that provides electric scooters, electric and manual wheelchairs to help anyone with poor mobility access all the facilities of Romford Town Centre. 

We provide for day hire and longer periods from our two shops. We have 450 active user members and numerous walk-in hires.  Our equipment is used 8000 time a year.

Our services help promote independence by allowing people with poor mobility to go out alone or with family, when they want to.  This also helps to reduce social isolation.  The local economy also benefits from their spending power which would otherwise be lost.

Our services are delivered by a dedicated team of 35 volunteers who operate on a shift rota six days per week. They provide 25,000 hours a year of voluntary service to the community.

Our trustees oversee the service delivery meeting on a quarterly basis to receive reports on policy, finances and performance.  Some trustees also have responsibility for leading in key areas such as Volunteer Support, Fundraising and Marketing.
