About us
Who we are
Greener and Cleaner (G&C) grew out of the community. It was started in 2019 by a group of passionate and ambitious local residents in Bromley to activate local people in response to the environmental challenges our planet faces.
From our accessible community sustainability Hub, based in a large, mainstream shopping centre in Bromley (which opened in March 2022), we equip people and organisations with skills, resources, and inspiration to make green living the norm. We also run programmes with local schools, a community allotment and encourage residents to use their voices and choices to drive environmental change.
Greener & Cleaner was established in 2019 and became a charity in 2021. We have built a thriving community both online and now at the Hub. Our strength is in our ability to inspire and animate a wide range of people through focusing on positive actions and solutions that they can embed in their lives every day: Greener & Cleaner has become a dynamic network of over 7,000 people across South East London making change in whatever way they can, and influencing others to do the same. We are currently a team of volunteer directors, 8 PAYE and 11 contractor roles.
We galvanise people from all walks of life, take environmental messages and actions to a diverse audience, and are working towards the significant environmental and social impact required to combat climate change and the biodiversity crisis.
We are already making a big impact in the community: last year we ran over 160 free events and fielded thousands of questions in our hub from drop-in visitors.
