About us
Who we are
We are the only national charity dedicated to supporting kinship carers - grandparents and other relatives raising children who aren't able to live with their parents. There are over 200,000 children in kinship care. We support kinship cares through peer support groups, by applying for grants on their behalf and providing one-to-one telephone support through trained kinship carers (Someone Like Me). We also raise awareness and campaign for change through our Kinship Care Champions.
We have a mix of volunteer roles available. Our Someone Like Me peer support role is open to kinship carers only, the rest of our volunteer roles are open to everyone over the age of 18.
We provide training for all roles either at our offices or an accessible venue in Waterloo. Any out of pocket expenses, including travel to and from training are reimbursed. Certificates and references are also available to all volunteers on request.
Our office is based in Camberwell in SE London. We are based on the 4th floor but the building is fully accessible.
