Who we are

Grandparents Plus is the national charity (England and Wales) that supports and champions the role of grandparents, whether that is providing child care or raising them full-time, because of the positive impact they have on the lives and well being of children and the wider family.

When grandparents act as kinship carers by taking on the primary role of raising grandchildren - often in difficult family circumstances such as when a parent has died or is in prison, or due to drug or alcohol misuse – their impact is even greater. Despite the practical, financial and emotional challenges, too few receive adequate support. We are dedicated to raising the profile of what they do, and supporting them and the children they care for.

We offer grandparents and other kinship carers vital financial, practical and emotional support through a range of national and local services.

Our new strategy will see the charity build on its expertise in kinship care and also develop a new and broader offer for grandparents.
