About us
Who we are
Global Girl Project (GGP) is a unique initiative dedicated to mobilising socially-minded girls, who live in poverty within the Global South, to become leaders for their families, communities, countries and the world. Global Girl Project exists to provide the platform, resources and support needed to make their voices heard and ensure community and female led change. Girls in the Global South have a unique perspective on social and community change, as well as the power and dynamism to make this happen, but currently aren’t being sufficiently supported to enact it. If we want to see global change which comes from within communities, rather than being imposed by external forces, we need to mobilise these girls to play a central role in making change happen.
Since 2014 we have delivered high quality leadership programmes for over 900 girls in Pakistan, Rwanda, Nepal, Brazil, Haiti, India, Nigeria, Cambodia, Afghanistan, Jordan, Sri Lanka, Peru and Sierra Leone. To date our girls have delivered over 170 Community Actions Projects that have engaged over 7000 people in issues, chosen as community priorities by the girls themselves, such as the importance of girls education, discrimination based on race and gender, child marriage and gender-based violence.
