About us
Who we are
For charity. Not for profit.
We’re proud to be a social enterprise. We have no shareholders to reward, we’re not affiliated to any corporate salvage business and we don’t make a profit from your car donation.
Giveacar was created to give people an ethical, hassle-free way of getting rid of a scrap car. At Giveacar, we know that there is value in every scrap car, and we are willing to put in the time and effort on behalf of our customers, in order to raise money for charity. In conjunction with our nationwide salvage partners, we secure the best price for our scrap metal. Roadworthy cars can be put through an auction and we receive their market value.
We aim to take the time to maximise the value of car donations. So, after years of faithful service, the donor's car will fetch the most it can with the added benefit it can do the most good by raising money for hard-pressed charities.
Giveacar has appeared in mainstream media including, BBC News, London and even on BBC Children In Need.
The Guardian - "Winner of the Innovation in Fundraising prize at the recent Third Sector Excellence Awards 2012, Give A Car, did just this by finding an opportunity to generate revenue when scrapping or reselling an unwanted car. Users can dispose of their vehicle with Give A Car without any additional effort, but with the added benefit of enabling a good cause of their choice to gain from it."
The Telegraph - "Giveacar is such a simple but effective way to donate to charity and we are thrilled to be one of the beneficiaries," said Angie Turner, of Children's Trust. "The scheme is not only a great recycling initiative, but it also means we can help more children with profound disabilities around the UK."
Added Marie Donnelly, an area volunteer manager for South-West London, Cancer Research UK: "Giveacar is a brilliant opportunity to donate to Cancer Research UK whilst helping the environment and offering you a valuable service that could otherwise be quite complicated. We embrace innovation and unique ways to fundraise at the charity and we hope that this scheme will grow, raise lots of money and help us beat cancer."
The British Heart Foundation - "Thanks to the Giveacar scheme we have raised over £52,000 for our life-saving research. Every day over 400 people will lose their lives to heart disease, but thanks to the support from companies like Giveacar we are able to continue our essential research which will hopefully one day end the devastation of heart disease. We would like to say a huge thank you to everyone who has chosen to support the BHF through this scheme."
