About us

Who we are

GASP Motor Project was launched in 2005 as a community evening youth project to engage young people who were participating in criminal and antisocial behaviours.  The organisation became a registered charity in 2009 and since that time has grown significantly since that time, extending to daytime and evening sessions.  However, our ethos remains constant – we provide support and training for disengaged and disadvantaged young people.

GASP uses motor mechanics and basic engineering as a mechanism to re-engage young people in structured, accredited learning.  We provide a positive intervention which improves behaviours, builds resilience and supports progression pathway training, apprenticeships and/or employment.

Our hands-on courses are specifically designed around kinesthetic learners: those who learn better by physical actions rather than conventional classroom learning.  Our instructors are all qualified engineers with varied backgrounds including the aeronautics and automotive industries.

We inspire each individual to use their existing assets and enable them to develop their strengths and abilities.  We promote talents and support them to improve their soft-skills, personal habits and traits, which shape how they work individually and with others.
