Who we are

We are a well-established and well-respected organisation working within the Scarborough area to provide personalised support and guidance to local people. We offer a variety of programmes and projects that cater to different age groups and needs all with the aim of increasing wellbeing, opportunities and fulfilling potential. From Functional skills math’s & English, furniture restoration to art sessions and one to one support, we help develop people’s confidence, skills and achievements with support and guidance at every step of the way. We help make a difference in people’s lives by finding their self-worth, increasing their skills and knowledge and by opening new opportunities that they often feel are out of reach

Our culture and values

Our strong reputation of delivering successful projects and services have allowed us to go from strength to strength through even the most challenging of times. Our core strength is the support we give to our community, and we do this in a way that is relevant to every individual that walks through our door. We set up our organisation to give meaningful support and guidance to those people who felt they couldn’t find it anywhere else. Our work primarily focuses on engaging young people aged 14 years to 18 years who are not in mainstream education for a variety of reasons. These can be exclusions, nonattendance due to high anxiety or a lack of confidence in engaging within an educational setting for those no longer of school age.  We also work with economically inactive adults and work with all cohorts on a one-to-one basis and small groups to engage them, build skills, both academic and life, to increase confidence, motivation and progression. Our aim is to prevent further impact upon clinical services by inputting coping mechanisms, improving general wellbeing and giving young people a better chance of opportunities that will improve their lives such as college or employment.

We pride ourselves on being able to work with some of the most marginalised people within our area by giving them confidence and the ability to improve their own worth and opportunities. As we work with the most disenfranchised and disadvantaged people in our area who often have a wealth of barriers, this foundation of support provides a robust footing for their overall development. Working on wellbeing and mental health, education and academic attainment as well as assisting with personal issues such as relationships, housing and employability enables us to develop clients to the point where they are ready and able to succeed independently, although we are always at hand to help even when clients leave our services.  Practical learning and life skills are always part of what we do as we know these are the preferred way of learning for most of our clients.
