About us
Who we are
Furnishing Futures is a charity creating trauma-informed, healing homes for women and children fleeing domestic abuse and been placed in empty social housing. We use good quality items donated by the interiors industry and community that would otherwise end up in landfill. A sustainable solution to two unsustainable problems.
We support families who have experienced multiple disadvantages and trauma. We combine social work with interior design to create beautiful healing homes that increases their safety, raises their self esteem and wellbeing, and helps break the cycle of poverty.
In the last year we have saved over 62,000kg of furniture from landfill and about 43,000kg of CO2 from the atmosphere.
Equality, diversity and inclusion policy
Furnishing Futures is committed to seeking equity, diversity and inclusion for the whole team, and
eliminating any form of discrimination. We recognise the constant and ongoing analysis and action
that is required by the charity to achieve this so staff, volunteers, trustees, beneficiaries and
stakeholders all have confidence in our work to create a safe, respectful and inclusive organisation.
We also recognise the systemic inequalities and oppressive structures in our society that impact
the experiences of women and children seeking safety after experiencing domestic abuse,
particularly those from minoritised groups, communities and backgrounds. Furnishing Futures will
strive to ensure the homes we create and relationships we build make every attempt to reverse
this impact to improve the wellbeing of our beneficiaries.
