Information about Malvern Community Hospital

The original Malvern Hospital opened in 1911 and was a gift to the town from businessman and philanthropist, CW Dyson Perrins, grandson of the Worcestershire Sauce inventor William Perrins.  Treatments and operations were carried out over the years until it became unfit for purpose and a new hospital was built.

The new Hospital was opened in 2010, with many of the facilities transferred from the old hospital.  The Friends helped equip the new Hospital with a wide variety of equipment for the benefit of patients and staff.

The Hospital is part of the Herefordshire and Worcestershire Health and Car NHS Trust.  The Hospital is on the ‘Malvern campus’ and provides both inpatient and outpatient services to the local community.  Inpatients are generally admitted for rehabilitation, medical reasons or palliative care.  There is also a nurse-led minor injury unit on site.  Whilst the precise services delivered by the hospital change over time they currently include:

  • Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy
  • Occupational Therapy
  • Podiatry etc

The purpose of the “Friends” is to encourage and support Malvern Community Hospital through provision of equipment for the treatment and comfort of the patients and to support staff.  All subscriptions and donations received by the “Friends” are used for these purposes.  All our help is provided voluntarily.

All these events are run by our dedicated team of helpers, and without them we could not do it.

Funds also come from:

  • Bequests

All the funds are raised with the help of Malvern and surrounding areas.
