About us
Who we are
Forces in Mind Trust (FiMT) was founded in 2011 with a £35 million endowment from the National Lottery Community Fund to improve transition to civilian life for Service leavers and their families.
Our mission is to enable a successful and sustainable transition to civilian life for former Service personnel and families, and the Trust’s strategy is to provide an evidence base that will influence and underpin effective policy making and practice. By funding high quality, credible research and by then leveraging the findings, FiMT aims to effect positive change.
Our culture and values
- Collaborative, not competitive
- Empathetic with the Armed Forces
- Evidence driven, and evidence seeking
- Approachable, straightforward and efficient
- Intelligently bold, and boldly innovative
Equality, diversity and inclusion policy
FiMT recognises and embraces the benefits of having an inclusive organization that makes good use of differences between Directors, staff and external partners. In this context, we recognize such differences can include gender, race, national and ethnic origin, colour, religion, age, sexual orientation, marital and family status, and physical or mental disabilities, as well as differences in political and other beliefs. FiMT ensures that all individuals are provided with equal opportunities, and seeks positively to create opportunities for those groups that may be disadvantaged.
