About us

Who we are

Footwork utilises an evidence-base of world-leading research to mobilise and coalesce actors to take a series of key actions by focusing on three key streams of activity:

  • Improving lives: Enable universal access to interventions to improve the lives of affected individuals and communities.
  • Bringing together: Bring together national, regional and global actors to strengthen coordination, collaboration and mutual learning.
  • Evidence-based advocacy: Harness evidence-based advocacy to accelerate the adoption and scale-up of interventions for treatment and prevention.

Our culture and values

Footwork UK is a UK registered charity (1197231) which works with academic, public and private partners from across the world in order to foster and promote action to tackle podo. Footwork encourages integration of podoconiosis control into efforts to eliminate other Neglected Tropical Diseases, and works with those active in other related diseases of the foot.

Our shared goal is to eliminate podoconiosis. We have made significant progress in the last ten years. A world free of podo is achievable. It may be the only non-infectious disease that can be eliminated in the near future. To do so, governments and international donors must commit to expand services for those in need.

Equality, diversity and inclusion policy

At Footwork UK, we are dedicated to integrating equity, equality, diversity, and inclusion (EEDI) into all aspects of our operations. We aim to establish a culture free from discrimination based on the values of dignity and respect. Our objective is to ensure that every aspect of our working environment, including professional relationships with partnerships and suppliers, embodies our core values.

As an inclusive organisation, we are committed to amplifying the voices of the communities we serve and those of our team and supporters in our practices, behaviours, and decision-making. We recognise the importance of equity in our approach and strive to create fair and just opportunities for everyone involved.

We seek global partnerships representing all sections of society and the people with whom we work directly to eradicate podoconiosis. We hope everyone engaging with Footwork UK feels respected and supported. We aim to treat each person fairly and equally, based on their needs, irrespective of characteristics protected by the UK 2010 Equality Act or other criteria.

Recognising the enormous value of differing perspectives, we believe that equality and diversity are most effective and sustainable if we are inclusive and if all voices are welcomed and fully able to contribute to a more equitable society.
