About us
Who we are
Ferring Country Centre is an independent charity providing a day service which offers meaningful training and work experience for people with learning disabilities. Our customers develop work and social skills by assisting us with operating the Riding Therapy Unit, Garden Centre, Café, Animal Farm and Charity Shop.
The Centre enables customers to work in a safe, supervised and supportive environment. They are able to build on their self esteem and confidence whilst learning and being given opportunities that some of us take for granted. They are empowered to make choices, sometimes for the first time in their lives. Our desire is that the work ethos applied at the Centre will enable our customers to move on to work in the community, voluntary or possibly paid employment.
The Centre was established in 1986 by a small group of parents who saw the need for an active workplace setting. We are strongly committed to these vulnerable adults gaining social inclusion within the community and to enable them to play a valued role in society.
We are situated in the small village of Ferring to the west of Worthing. The Rife Way site is a small agricultural holding set in beautiful countryside. The Centre is open to the general public and offers those that visit a unique, tranquil and calming interlude to their often hectic pace of life. People can meet the horses and other animals on the farm, walk our nature trial, visit our Garden Centre, or enjoy our refreshments.
