About us
Who we are
Enfield is a hugely diverse borough of over 300,000 people with some of the poorest wards in the region.
The Enfield Methodist Circuit has 8 churches and a community project called The Space. Together we have over 900 members, 3 presbyteral staff, a deacon, a youth & children’s worker, a circuit office with a circuit executive officer and administrator. Our leadership team comprises the afore mentioned people along with 4 circuit stewards, a supernumerary, a presbyter stationed in our circuit and the scheme manager or the MHA live at home scheme.
The calling of the Methodist Church is to respond to the gospel of God’s love in Christ and to live out its discipleship in worship and mission. It does this through:
Worship: The church exists to increase awareness of God’s presence and to celebrate God’s love
Learning and Caring: The church exists to help people grow and learn as Christians, through mutual support and care
Service: The church exists to be a good neighbour to people in need and to challenge injustice
Evangelism: The church exists to make more followers of Jesus Christ.
First and foremost, a Methodist is a Christian. Methodism has a history going back 300 years. Elements that make Methodists distinctive are….
- A belief that no one is beyond the reach of God’s love and that God’s love is for everybody, not a chosen few.
- A major emphasis on Social Action and fighting for fairness & justice in each person’s own local community and throughout the world.
