About us
Who we are
Enfield Carers Centre (ECC) is a growing charity, established in ~February 2010 to support the borough's 30000 unpaid/family carers.
3 in 5 of us will become carers and some point in our lives. It isn't always a choice, because circumstances and accidents occur which thrust people into having look after someone because of illness, disability, substance misuse or frailty.
At ECC we help carers by providing a range of support services:
- General advice & information
- Benefits Advice
- Counselling
- Adult/Peer support groups
- Training
- Social and leisure breaks
- Legal information
- Money & debt advice
- Carers Assessments
- Young Carers support (5ys - 18ys)
- Carers Emergency Card Scheme
Our culture and values
Our aim is to improve the lives of carers in Enfield by championing their right to have choice about how their needs are met and to have a voice in shaping how services are developed for those they care for.
We support Carers by providing training, information, a variety of support groups, counselling, complementary therapy and respite activities.
Enfield Carers Centre (ECC) is a local charity, established on 8th February 2010 which supports family and informal/unpaid carers. Since November 2020, ECC now also provides regulated homecare services following a merger with Carers Trust Lea Valley Crossroads. Our Homecare Service is rated “GOOD” by the Care Quality Commission (CQC).
The Carers Centre is a one-stop shop for both Adult and Young Carers from the age of 5 as it provides a wide range of support services including, Information & Advice, Care-At-Home Services, Counselling, Support Groups, Training, Carers’ Breaks, Young Carers Evening Hubs and Homework Clubs and a GP or Hospital Liaison service.
The Centre is also Enfield Council’s appointed Trusted Assessor for Carers Assessments. This means we help Carers who are caring for an adult with needs to discuss the impact that caring has on their life, health and wellbeing. The aim of a statutory Carers Assessment is to identify what else can be done to support a carer to enjoy a life outside caring and to ensure their own health and wellbeing doesn’t suffer.
Equality, diversity and inclusion policy
We recognise that discrimination is unacceptable and although equality of opportunity has been a long-standing feature of our employment practices and procedure, we have made the decision to adopt a formal equal opportunities policy. Breaches of the policy will lead to disciplinary proceedings and, if appropriate, disciplinary action.
The aim of the policy is to ensure no job applicant, employee or worker is discriminated against either directly or indirectly on the grounds of age, disability, gender reassignment, marriage and civil partnership, pregnancy or maternity, race, religion or belief, sex or sexual orientation.
We will ensure that the policy is circulated to any agencies responsible for our recruitment and a copy of the policy will be made available for all employees and made known to all applicants for employment.
The policy will be communicated to all private contractors reminding them of their responsibilities towards the equality of opportunity.
The policy will be implemented in accordance with the appropriate statutory requirements and full account will be taken of all available guidance and in particular any relevant Codes of Practice.
We will maintain a neutral working environment in which no employee or worker feels under threat or intimidated
