Who we are
Eden Housing Association is a successful small independent Registered Provider of affordable homes with a rural focus.
We were established in 1997 following the voluntary transfer of housing stock from Eden District Council.
We now operate chiefly across North Cumbria owning and/or managing around 1,982 homes for affordable rent or sale, and act as Managing Agents for Mitre Housing Association and Lyvennet Community Trust.
During the lifetime of our Corporate Plan 2021 – 2024, ‘Succeeding Together’, we will work to achieve our 3-year priorities:
- Tenant Voice and Influence – Engaging with, listening to and placing tenants at the heart of our work and decision making. Working together on our future.
- Investment in assets – Evidence based decision making ensuring we invest in the right stock (including new development) in the right places. Life cycles a trigger for inspection, not for spend. Prioritise spend which keeps people safe and improves affordability for tenants. Grow insight into pathway to carbon zero and formulate future ambition.
- Value in collaboration – Form relationships that brings about more for our tenants, local communities and our place. Seek out opportunities to access knowledge and expertise that accelerates our learning.
- Outstanding organisation – Maximise benefit from limited financial resources. Build resilience post-pandemic, embrace and embed agile working, adopt new NHF Code of Governance and maintain the highest regulatory grading for governance. Strengthen viability and pinpoint optimum time to refinance. Motivate and invest in our staff to deliver results!
Our homes are generally located in areas of strong housing demand and relatively high market values.
Most of our homes caters for general family needs, with around 10% specifically designed for older people.
Tenants and residents are at the heart of everything we do, and a range of opportunities are offered and continually refreshed for local people to get involved with our work.
