Who we are
Eastmoor Community Project Limited was established in 1998 and is based at St Swithuns Community Centre, a busy and welcoming building based in the heart of Eastmoor Estate. We are a small voluntary organisation set up to encourage community involvement and participation in the Eastmoor area. We run a variety of activities, social groups, workshops and community events throughout the year. Our aim is to respond to our community, to provide suitable resources and support people to thrive and achieve.
Eastmoor Community Project Ltd became a registered charity in 2014 We raise funds through the hiring of our facilities and rooms. We run projects in response to need in our area and have been successful in receiving funding over the years from; Warburtons, Children in Need, WMDC, Live Well Wakefield, Postcode Communities Trust, Community Fund Big Lottery.
We currently run a reaching communities well-being project which focuses on health and well-being support, enabling the local community to develop coping strategies and support networks to help them maintain good health. This project is funded by the Community Fund, Big Lottery.
To ensure we provide a varied and needs focused offer we partner with more than 30 local organisations, working together for our community.
We also operate a community café, providing home cooked and healthy food options. We have facilities which are available to hire, with a variety of meeting rooms including a conference suite and activity hall. Our café can also provide refreshments and buffets on request.
Our community centre is home to a neighbourhood nursery run by St Georges Lupset, offer a welcoming, stimulating and caring environment for children from birth to five years old. The childcare is affordable, and the nurseries are Ofsted-registered with all of them rated either good or outstanding.
