Who We Are & What We Do
 The Earthworks Trust is a registered charity which uses the operational title of The Sustainability Centre to provide an insight into its core values and activities. Established in 1995, The Sustainability Centre is an independent education and learning centre, a beacon for sustainability, and an award-winning social enterprise.
 Our mission is to demonstrate, develop and promote knowledge, skills, technologies and lifestyles that improve people’s quality of life without damaging the local and global environment.
 We inherited our 55 acre site, here in the heart of the South Downs National Park, from the MoD when the Royal Navy Signal School, HMS Mercury, vacated this site in 1993. The land and two buildings were given over to The Earthworks Trust Charity in 1995. Over the past 20 years, The Sustainability Centre has expanded to provide a broad range of opportunities for outdoor education and eco-friendly lifestyle solutions. The sustainability Centre works with schools, community groups, people with disabilities, families and the elderly in a tranquil 55 acre woodland location in the heart of the beautiful South Downs National Park. We are proud to be able to host over 3,000 pupil visits, via the schools programme, and around 7,800 visitors and learners over a one year period. We welcome around 20,000 visitors here a year.
