About us
Who we are
About us
Doing Social is a micro social enterprise based in Southwark in South London, with a UK-wide remit. Our work aims to tackle social, economic, and racial injustices in adult education and health through learning partnerships based on furthering inclusive innovations* that can achieve transformative outcomes for communities. We have been operating since 2016.
* Our definition of inclusive innovation: 'The purposeful participation or leadership by historically marginalised and underserved communities in the co-creation of innovations or projects that are intended to tackle their unmet needs and contribute to improved lives—as social justice outcomes.’
Our mission and vision
Our mission is to cultivate the conditions for inclusive innovation in the UK to address systemic injustices in education and health innovation processes.
Our vision is that people who have been underserved by education and health systems, develop agentic capabilities and deep wisdom through participating in inclusive innovation, which improves their life chances, wellbeing and communities.
Our principal areas of work
- Co-designing 'just' processes that purposefully develop agentic capabilities, wellbeing and lead to healing.
- Furthering inclusive innovations to address systemic injustices.
- Collaborating with organisations and learning partners to address root causes of injustices, helping transform practice from the inside-out.
- Helping organisations and communities to recognise and harness the opportunities for systemic change available through processes (often connected to the development of agentic/transformative capabilities).
Our approach
Our approach is about building relationships and changing hearts and minds rather than coercive action. How we harness consciousness and self-awareness are key areas of interest for us.
Our work is inherently exploratory and reflective so we can detect, learn, and act from deep insights – which are sometimes obscured between the lines. We are experimenting in kind and respectful ways to address inequities in health and adult education with communities to improve wellbeing and social outcomes through inclusive innovation processes. Our focus on ‘processes’ is an important thread that runs through all our work.
