Introducing Croydon Mencap
Croydon Mencap is an independent self-funded charity working with and for people with learning disabilities and their carer’s who live in the London Borough of Croydon. We are registered with the Charity Commission and affiliated to Royal Mencap Society. In addition to providing advice and information we run a range of projects and support services across the Borough of Croydon. We also lobby and campaign to make life better for people with learning disabilities, their families and carers.
Although affiliated to the national charity, the Royal Mencap Society, Croydon Mencap is a local independently managed charity that raises its own funds and is led by our own Board of voluntary Trustees. It is managed by a Chief Executive Officer who reports to the Board.
Croydon Mencap was established in 1952 by local parents and has a history of successes. It is well respected by Croydon Council and other voluntary agencies with whom we partner to deliver some of our projects and services. It has good financial reserves, brilliant staff and volunteers and a secure future.
