About us

Who we are

Community TechAid exists to end digital poverty by providing sustainable access to the technology, skills and opportunities to get online. We are an award winning charity who work with people experiencing digital exclusion in our local Lambeth and Southwark community. We work with people who are often already marginalised, facing barriers to housing, healthcare, and other vital services, and who are cut off from local connections because of digital poverty.

We operate a circular economy: we collect, repair, refurbish and reuse unwanted technology, including laptops and smartphones, returning it to the local community where it is needed. We deliver workshops and digital skills sessions to increase participants' confidence, digital literacy and overall well being, helping them to fully engage with their device and experience the benefits of being online. We also work with our community partners to provide access to connectivity and further opportunities to support members of our Lambeth and Southwark community online.

Our values define the type of organisation we want to be and guide our actions. We know that how we deliver our work is just as important as why, and we are committed to acting responsibly and according to our values.

At Community TechAid we are:

  • Equitable

We believe in equity rather than equality. We recognise that everyone has different circumstances and needs, and we set out to provide the means to achieve equal outcomes.

  • Sustainable

Environmental sustainability is central to everything we do. We strive to reuse and recycle as much as possible, and to use sustainably sourced materials wherever we can.

  • Open

We approach others through active engagement, and with kindness. We are open in our practices and transparent about our work.

  • Collaborative

We value collective decision-making and collaborative working practices. All of the communities we engage with help to shape and influence the way we work.

  • Ambitious

We are ambitious, always looking ahead to see how we can improve and grow our impact within the community.
