About us
Who we are
Since it was founded in 1988 CHSF has awarded more than £10m in grants to the Leeds Congenital Heart Unit and the region’s supporting hospitals which give lifelong treatment and care to the 1 in 125 patients born with a heart defect in the region.
CHSF provides lifesaving medical equipment, essential ward resources and parent accommodation as well as providing a family support service within the hospital, giving practical, emotional, financial, and signposting support for families in need who attend the Leeds Congenital Heart Unit or one of the 19 clinics, in Yorkshire, Humberside, North Derbyshire or North Lincolnshire, for treatment for congenital heart disease. They also create a peer community of families and individuals who live with congenital heart disease, enaging with this community and supporting individuals throughout their journey through life with congenital heart disease.
