About us
Who we are
Chapter is dedicated to improving the lives of people experiencing mental ill-health
Our vision is for communities where mental ill-health is no longer a barrier to opportunity, and where everyone is able to reach their potential and realise their aspirations.
We pride ourselves on the tailored local approach of our services. We work closely with individuals, taking time to understand their needs, recognising their strengths, and supporting them to engage in their local community.
Chapter assists people who, because of their mental illness, need help in regaining confidence, accessing training and employment, and moving towards fulfilling their life goals.
Set up in 1991 as a result of collaboration between people experiencing mental ill-health and health professionals, Chapter is now a registered charity and still maintains its collaborative ethos.
We provide direct support to over 150 people every year recovering from severe and enduring mental illness, as well as supporting community groups to improve wellbeing.
More recently, we’ve launched RE:SET, an ambitious new project to support people who are at risk of mental illness in develop coping strategies and self-help techniques to help them to stay well.
We deliver a range of tailored and accredited mental health workshops and courses to individuals, groups and organisation seeking to improve their knowledge and understanding of mental health and wellbeing.
