Who we are

CFCCA is unique.

CFCCA is the national lead in presenting and promoting Chinese contemporary art and artists. Our artistic mission is to provide exceptional experiences for UK audiences through our public programme, using art as a vehicle to further understanding of Chinese contemporary life and society.

For the last 32 years, CFCCA has been curating Chinese contemporary art in a UK context, exploring the complexities of presenting East Asian art outside of Asia. We also have a rich history of supporting British Chinese artists. Although the majority of artists we work with are of Chinese descent, CFCCA also works a range of international artists to explore the notion of ‘Chineseness’, exploring what Chinese contemporary culture is really like through the eyes of artists from across the globe.

Through our artistic programme we support artists, curators, academics and audiences to interrogate Chinese contemporary art and visual culture we show and commission the work of exceptional artists and provide artists in residence the opportunity to make innovative work. Through our programme we engage a broad audience, inspiring and supporting people to respond creatively.
