Who we are
Cardiff Met is a modern, forward looking university that is proud of its roots, and passionate about its future. The University traces its establishment to 1865 and has recently celebrated it's 150th Anniversary. With over 11,000 students studying in Cardiff from more than 140 countries, it educates across a range of subjects in Health, Education, Sport, Management and Art and Design.
Cardiff Met is a significant player in the region, driving the innovation and skills agenda and delivering for the future economy. It contributes significantly to Wales and beyond through areas of research excellence that help address the challenges our society faces today. The University also has a commitment to social mobility, priding itself on access and widening participation alongside high quality learning opportunities. Our graduates leave equipped to be the leaders and entrepreneurs of the future.
All our schools specialise in courses that are career orientated and have been designed in conjunction with business and industry. Through work placement programmes, professional accreditations and opportunities to study abroad, our focus on employability has ensured that 94% of our graduates enter employment or further study within six months of graduation.*
In addition, following the recent Research Excellence Framework (REF) in 2014, Cardiff Met was the highest ranking post-1992 institution. This represents a rise of 62 places from the overall position of 103rd in the Research Assessment Exercise in 2008, with 80% of the University's overall quality profile rated as 'world leading' or 'internationally excellent'.
