About us
Who we are
Cancer Support Yorkshire (formally Cancer Support Bradford & Airedale) is an independent registered charity which provides practical, social and emotional support to people with a cancer diagnosis and those close to them. We know that a cancer diagnosis can be an extremely emotional and difficult time, not just for the person with the diagnosis but also for the family and friends around them. We regularly hear people say they need help with practical issues such as finances and transport but they also need emotional support too, an impartial ear to discuss things that can't be shared elsewhere or just some 'me time' a break from the medical appointments and treatment. When you come to our Centre for the first time you will be enveloped by a calm and friendly atmosphere. Our professional team are here to provide the very best support but we want you to feel relaxed and comfortable too so come early, enjoy a cuppa and read the paper. We provide all kinds of support from information and benefits advice to complementary therapies and counselling. We have support groups and classes which are the perfect opportunity to meet people in a similar position to you.
