About us
Who we are
Art, knowledge and science in a fairer, more sustainable and diverse world
The Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation is an international foundation promoting the development of individuals and organisations through art, science, education, and charity, for a more equitable and sustainable society.
The Foundation provides grants, supports scientific research and runs a cultural centre, including a museum housing our founder’s extensive collection of art. The Foundation’s headquarters are in Lisbon, with offices in London (the UK Branch) and Paris.
Since its establishment in 1956, the UK Branch has supported organisations to improve the quality of life for all, prioritising vulnerable and underserved communities in tackling complex global problems. We focus our resources where we can best make a difference. We deliver on the Foundation’s mission for a more equitable and sustainable society using our networks, experience and way of working. We work internationally with partners in the UK, Portugal and beyond to increase access to culture and engagement on climate.
