About us
Who we are
Buckby Library & Hub (BL&H) was established as a charitable incorporated organisation (CIO) in 2019 and took over the running and funding of Long Buckby library and premises from the then Northamptonshire County Council from November 2020. BL&H is directed and supported by a board of currently four trustees and is run on a day-to-day basis by a team of around fifty volunteers, co-ordinated and managed by a part-time, paid manager.
Our culture and values
BL&H has evolved into a much valued community hub for the people of Long Buckby and the many surrounding villages. We offer library services, information and drop-in “surgeries”, as well as educational, cultural and social activities and events. Through a highly successful fundraising programme, we have raised finance to enhance the physical amenities on offer to include a covered courtyard garden and landscaped areas where people can meet outdoors, a new hearing loop system, and most recently an additional, fully wheelchair accessible toilet and baby-change facility – all thanks to the efforts of our events and fundraising teams.
Equality, diversity and inclusion policy
Buckby Library & Hub is committed to equality and diversity. This commitment extends to all visitors, our programme of activities and events and to our volunteers. We encourage all people we work with to contribute to an environment in which people feel comfortable expressing how they feel and what they need, knowing they will be treated with dignity and respect and that their contribution will be valued.
