About us
Who we are
Bromley & Croydon Women's Aid believe in providing high-quality services to anyone fleeing domestic abuse. We focus on maintaining the independence, confidence and self-esteem of anyone we help and we aim to be responsive to the needs of individuals in a culturally appropriate and sensitive way.
We have been working for more than 40 years to:
- offer refuge to women and children fleeing domestic abuse from across the UK
- offer one-to-one sessions and support groups for victims of domestic abuse not in refuge
- focus on prevention through educational programmes in schools
- provide training on domestic abuse within the community
Our culture and values
BCWA is a member of Women’s Aid Federation and works within a feminist ethos. Although we acknowledge that domestic abuse can happen to anyone, most cases are perpetrated against women and girls, and therefore, we consider domestic abuse to be a gendered crime.
Our mission is to end all forms of domestic abuse in our community.
Our vision is to support and empower women to create change in their lives, so that they and their children can live free from domestic abuse and improve their quality of life.
Equality, diversity and inclusion policy
BCWA is committed to supporting and promoting equality & diversity and creating an inclusive working environment. To achieve this, we seek to employ a diverse range of staff from many different backgrounds to better represent the communities we serve.
Female applicants only: In light of the nature of work, the candidate’s gender is considered to be an occupational requirement in accordance with Schedule 9 (part 1) of the Equality Act 2010.
