Who we are

British Wheelchair Basketball (formerly the Great Britain Wheelchair Basketball Association) is the governing body for wheelchair basketball in the United Kingdom. BWB is a registered charity and is the representative body of wheelchair basketball in England, Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales.

An elected Executive Committee (also known as the Board of Trustees) is responsible for the governance and direction of policy for the sport.

The British Wheelchair Basketball League was formed in 1974 following this the Association was founded in 1982. Since the Association has grown dramatically, the sport has an administrative office in Loughborough, Leicestershire and employs twenty members of staff to cope with demand of the growth of the sport in the country and make sure it is run efficiently.

This website should provide you with information regarding the whereabouts of local clubs, advice to any individual or group wishing to develop their own clubs/teams. You should be able to find comprehensive information about wheelchair basketball and the governance of the sport.

Arrangements can also be made through the office for a visit by a local club or coach to any college, school, club or group showing an interest in wheelchair basketball. In addition, coaching clinics, seminars, awareness and taster days, demonstrations and exhibitions can also be organised through the office.
